Girlhood: Cinnamon Dreamscape (Pillow Sculpture)
'Pillow Sculpture' became an extension of the painterly piece of 'Girlhood: Cinnamon Dreamscape'. Made alongside the painting, switching between the mediums, creating the sculpture in the same way I would create a composition on
canvas; matching fabrics to one another, forming relationships between them, and stretching them into various shapes.

As the sculpture progressed, and especially when placed next to the painting, I got a sense of the creation of a girly bedroom, a childhood bedroom, hence why it became a pillow. Both of the pieces create an illusion of a bed - the pillow and a bed frame or a pillow and a carpet, a pillow and a wallpaper etc... Mediums I have used exaggerate this sense of girlhood and nostalgia - lace, faux fur, beads, pearls, ribbon and pastel colours, a girl's dream.

This 'pillow' has been further solidified with the animation I have produced, where we see an abstract story of a heart going through the motions, girlhood, a young woman's dating life from the inside out - clay is stretched, rolled, joined by another and then left, building itself back up and thriving, wrapped in a feel-good ribbon of safety.
A Modern Story of An Eager Soul
